UNLAG VC Urges Lecturers To Research On How To End Boko Haram
THE Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of
Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Rahamon Bello has
urged the university lecturers to research on
how to solve local problem like combating
Boko Haram insurgency.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the
10th UNILAG Annual Research Conference and
Fair themed: “Implementing New Research
Strategies For National Transformation,”he
said:
“There are so many aspects of the Boko
Haram that can be looked at. The military are
looking for hardware to be able to monitor
and prevent explosion.”
He said that the socio impacts of the war and
all the problem of rehabilitation can be
researched on as well.
“You can look at the financial implication and
its effect on the economy of the nation. All
these are things that are researchable. I want
to lure you on to think Nigeria, think local.“
He urged them to research on quality papers
that the world would be proud at.
“I want to say that our Research and
Innovation Office is just coming up and their
inputs and impacts are not yet felt at the
conference but in another year or two we
shall start feeling them.
“What I am saying is that it is not just enough
to carry out research whether in the
humanity or in the sciences. What we need is
the application of our research results. And
the Research and Innovation Office will do us
a lot of proud. Do not relent on your efforts. A
few people are making money on research but
I believe that the good years will come on our
way.”
