UNIBEN partners Germanagency on capacitybuilding

​Authorities of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) in

collaboration with German Academy Exchange Service,

Alexander Von Humboldt, has held a capacity building

workshop aimed at enhancing academic growth for

academic staff.

Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Faraday

Osarumwense, who declared the three-day workshop

open, stated that the programme would strengthen

prospective scholars/fellowships and applicants on

how to write winning proposals that would aid their

research activities.

Besides, he said the workshop is meant to boost

lecturers’ capacity development, Scholars and

Researchers in UNIBEN.

Represented by the Deputy VC (Academics), Prof.

Abiodun Falodun, Orumwense this opportunity was to

key into the vision statement of the German

embassies in Nigeria.

“Right now, we have strong collaboration and strong

partnership for the overall good of the University of

Benin,” he said.

In his address, the Consul-General, Embassy of

Germany in Lagos, Ingo Herbert, expressed his

country’s readiness to partner with UNIBEN in areas

of academic development such as: special programmes,

scholarships for prospective scholars, lecturers and

academic researches.

“We are very grateful for the initiative of the

University of Benin for organising this workshop in

collaboration with the relevant institutions in

Germany which are responsible for special

programmes and scholarships for academic

Researches. We hope to strengthen this relationship,”

he said.

According to him, the German embassy in Nigeria has

the highest number of applicants in the globe seeking

Germany scholarship to study in Germany, while India

and China have the largest number of foreign

students at Universities in Germany.
