
UNIBEN names Emir Sanusi as new Chancellor, to award IGP Arase degree
Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has been
appointed as the new chancellor of the University of
Benin (UNIBEN).
Vice-Chancellor, Faraday Orunmwense, made the
announcement on Monday at a press conference
on the university’s 41st convocation.
He said the new chancellor would be installed on
November 25.
Barth Nnaji, former minister of power, will also
deliver a convocation lecture at the institution.
Orunmwense also explained that 64 out of 11,020
graduands, would be conferred with first class
degree, while 7,034 persons would graduate with
other classes of first degrees.
Master’s degree and doctoral degree will also be
awarded to 2, 594 students.
Solomon Arase, Inspector-General of police,
Osato Giwa, a constant gynaecologist, will bag
honorary degrees during the convocation.
