UNIBEN: 10,353 Students Matriculated, Shuns Them To Flee Vices
The University
of Benin (UNIBEN) on Friday matriculated 10,353
students out of the 28,400 applicants who sat for
its Computer Based Post UTME screening in
2015.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof.
Faraday Orumwense, disclosed this at the
matriculation in Benin.
Orumwense said the institution had continued to
receive large number of applications for
admission on a yearly basis due to its academic
strides.
He congratulated the matriculating students for
being among the lucky few who scaled through
the various selection processes and urged them
to work hard as students of the university.
“We are urging you all to obey the rules and
regulations of the institutions as the University
authority has zero tolerance for any nefarious act
and may apply sanctions against offenders.
“I encourage you all to be decent and shun evil
vices like cultism, drug abuse, prostitution, exam
malpractices and immoral activities that may mar
your sojourn in this institution,” he said.
Orumwense further advised students to make out
time to engage in sports and scholarly lectures to
enhance their academic performance.
Some of the matriculating students, thanked God
for the opportunity given to them to study at the
institution and promised to be law abiding.
