Kebbi Govt to sustain scholarship for foreign studies
The Kebbi Government on Tuesday said it had not
suspended the issuance of foreign scholarship, in spite
of current funding challenges in the country.
Dr. Sahabi Yauri, the Executive Secretary of the state
Scholarship Board said in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, that
the government would continue to sponsor students
without a hitch.
He said any student who passed the required subjects
for admission into university would be sponsored to
study.
The executive secretary said that the government
currently sponsors 500 students studying professional
courses, including Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy,
Engineering, Dentistry, in Sudan and India.
Yauri said that the board had paid N1 billion
scholarship grant to all students from the state in
tertiary institutions within and outside the country,
adding that it would not relent in this effort.
According to him, the government would continue to
select the best universities in the world to secure
admission for its students who want to progress
academically.
He called on the beneficiaries to reciprocate the
gesture by studying hard in order to justify the huge
investments made in them.
The government is offering the scholarship to 5,000
students from the state studying in tertiary institutions
across the country.
