Govt to Make Secondary Education Mandatory for Girl-Child – Aisha Buhari

Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, Thursday,
said the Federal Government is considering a law that
will make it compulsory for every girl child to attain at
least secondary school education.
Speaking at the Nigerian Institute of Management’s,
NIM, Women-in-Management and Leadership
Conference in Abuja, Aisha Buhari, who was
represented by the wife of the Nasarawa State
Governor, Mrs. Mairo Al-Makura, disclosed that the Bill
which would receive inputs from women nationwide
and put forward to the National Assembly, would be
facilitated by the
Federal Government through the free education policy.
This, according to her, is because of the fact that
education is the key to liberation and empowerment of
the girl child.
She said, “Education changes the outlook of a person
and drives away poverty of the mind and the pocket.
An educationally empowered girl child of today is the
women professional of tomorrow.
