50 pupils of IBHS awarded scholarship
FIFTY Senior Secondary School pupils of Ibadan Boys High School were on Thursday offered scholarship by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Yusuf Alli.
While advising the beneficiaries who are preparing for their final school certificate examinations, Alli called on the federal and state governments to make education a priority, saying that it was the only way to cleanse the society of social menace.
Alli said, “Both the government at the state and federal levels and parents are no more investing as much in education as it used to be. You will agree with me that education is cheaper than ignorance. I appeal to the Oyo State Government not to relent in its giant stride to place education in its rightful place as the bedrock of a progressive and successful society.”
Alli, who urged parents not to always look up to government and Non-Governmental Organisations for the education of their children, also advised the beneficiaries of the initiative to ensure that they excel in their final examinations and make their parents and teachers proud.
The principal of the school, Mr. Abubakar Olasupo, acknowledged the gesture, thanking Ali for investing in the future of the 50 pupils.
