5, 000 candidates to get JAMB form free in Kano
Kano state government has approved the payment of over N45m for the purchase, registration, training and screening of 5, 000 candidates that will seat for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams.
This was disclosed by the state commissioner for information Malam Muhammed Garba during a press conference on the resolutions of the state’s last executive council meeting.
According to him, the council has made the approval after debating on the issue presented at the council adding that it has been the tradition of Governor Ganduje’s administration to purchase and distribute JAMB forms free for the state’s candidate.
“Last year, the council had approved over N37 million for the purchase, registration, training and screening of 5, 000 JAMB candidates in the state. Equally, this year over N45 million was approved for the same gesture to another 5, 000 set of JAMB candidates, this is all in the importance attached to education by the present state’s administration,” said the commissioner.
He added that, all for the development of education in the state the state government has also approved over N100 million to Kano state polytechnic on the accreditation activities of 16 new courses approved to the polytechic.
Similarly, the commissioner also revealed that over N247 million was approved by the council for the renovation, rehabilitation and construction work at five health institutions across the state.
Malam Muhammed Garba also pointed out that, during the 105 state’s executive council meeting, over N813.9 million was approved to enable a successful undertaking of various projects in the education and health sectors of the state.
