2015/2016 WAEC RESULTS EXPECTED FRIDAY
The Minister of Education, George K. Werner, has disclosed here that results of the 2015/2016 West African Examination Council or WAEC exams across the country are expected in by Friday, August 5, 2016.
The exams for 12th graders were administered on
Monday, June 27 to July 1, after 9th graders had
earlier written theirs early June. Minister Werner said
results of the exams qualify schools to hold graduation
ceremony.
Speaking with reporters Wednesday, August 3, at the
Capitol in Monrovia, the Education boss said schools
that will violate the mandate of the Ministry will not go
unpunished, although several private schools, including
Rick’s Mission in Virginia, outside Monrovia have
repeatedly defied this regulation with impunity.
Minister Werner predicts mass failure among pupils, but
boasted that over 1.5million female pupils are in
school, which is a progress in the educational
system. “Over 1.5 million school girls presently in
school; it is a progress,” he noted, and stressed that it
is about time for more female pupils to hold serious
unto their education, adding that by doing so, it will
also help strengthen the educational system of Liberia.
“Girls, be serious about your education for your future
is ahead,” Werner challenged the girls of
Liberia. United States First Lady Michelle Obama
recently visited Liberia and encouraged females to
prioritize education, as part of the U.S. Government’s
“Let Girls Learn” initiative.
At the same time he said students already benefiting
from government scholarship or desire to benefit
should score a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 and
be willing to write an aptitude test and pass to gain
eligibility.
